Introduction to Pie de la Cuesta
Pacific Coast, Guerrero, Mexico

Information about the small beach village of Pie de la Cuesta, which located on Pacific Coast of Mexico, just northwest of Acapulco.

Pie de la Cuesta is a small, quiet village on a narrow 2 kilometer strip of empty beaches between the ocean and a fresh weather lagoon, approximately 15 kilometers northwest of Acapulco. The strip of land extends for 11 miles. The name of the lagoon is Laguna de Coyuca. Swimming in the ocean is not recommended at Pie de la Cuesta, because waves can be very powerful. Swimmers usually spend their time in the lagoon, which has several islets and many birds. Sailing, waterskiing, windsurfing, and kayaking are popular activities in the lagoon. Other favorite activities are horseback riding and donkey riding on the beach, reading and relaxing in shaded hammocks, and walks on the beach. There is a the Mexican Air Force military base in this area. Pie de la Cuesta is also known as "sunset beach" because of its unobstructed views of the sea and the horizon.
